WHAT ARE YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENTS AND WHY?
Pinpointing my biggest achievements is never easy. Your firsts are always unforgettable because you’re navigating the unknown. Then, as you start winning titles, the challenge becomes: can you do it again? Over more than ten years on the world tour, my biggest personal achievement has been finding a solid “why.” Why work harder than anyone else? Why dedicate myself to something bigger than myself? That “why” evolves every year, and constantly discovering new reasons to give my career purpose has been one of the most rewarding challenges. One of my most memorable moments has to be the Moomba Masters, following my first major injury. At the start of the season before, I completely tore my labrum in my left shoulder. I completed all season despite dislocating my shoulder over 20 times and still managed to win the championship. After returning to Australia, I immediately went under surgery to fully reconstruct my shoulder. I dedicated every moment of the off season to ensure I wouldn’t miss the following season, all while battling the doubt of whether I could ever be as good as I was before. At the first event in Melbourne, I barely made it into the finals. After what became a career defining performance for me, I walked back to see my family. It happened to be the first time my nephew had ever seen me compete at a world championship tour event in person. He ran over, I picked him up, and he gave me a hug. Right in that moment, the results and win were announced across the city. I immediately started tearing up. All the work, the pain, the sacrifice, it had all been worth it. I went on to win the championship again that year, but that moment with my family will always hold the most special place in my heart.
